Company History

  • History 
    1967 

    J + S (Jackson and Storey) Research Electronics formed as a niche lighting company specialising in the “new” entertainment industry

     

    1970

    This business purchased by the principal shareholders and renamed as Jands Pty Ltd

    Jands manufactures 'Miniset' dimmers for Strand Electric

     

    1973  

    The company through associations with early overseas touring acts and other pioneering companies breaks the structure into two companies, Jands Electronics (concentrating on product development) and Jands Hire (specialising in concert touring lighting and sound productions)

     

    1975 

    Jands Electronics services its first overseas agency “Acoustic Amplifiers”

     

    1977 

    Jands moves from a Marrickville factory to a larger premises at St Peters

     

    1978 

    Jands establishes its own sheet metal facility

     

    1979 

    Jands Hire changes its name to Jands Concert Productions identifying its position in the market
    The J600S Power Amplifier released

     

    1980

    The “Horn Trademark” is registered

     

    1981 

    Jands moves its facility to 578 Princes Highway St Peters

     

    1982 

    Jands Lighting becomes an entity after buyout of Rock Industries
    Artist Concert Tours and JCP merge sound operations

     

    1983 

    Jands co-promotes Narara Music Festival

     

    1984 

    Jands Electronics appointed as Australian agent for JBL

     

    1985 

    Jands Concert Productions sold to English company Samuelson PLC and changes name to Samuelsons Concert Productions (SCP)

     

    1986 

    Association with Vari*Lite established
    Samuelsons Concert Productions moves to 40 Kent Road Mascot
    Jands appointed Distributor for Soundcraft

     

    1987 

    Jands appointed ETC Distributor
    Jands appointed Clear-Com Agent

     

    1988 

    Jands enters to export market with release of ESP Lighting Console

     

    1989 

    Jands New Zealand established in Auckland

     

    1990 

    Jands Production Services buys back SCP

     

    1991 

    Jands Event Lighting Console released

     

    1992 

    Jands appointed Australian Shure Distributor

     

    1995 

    Jands “Hog” Lighting Console released
    Jands appointed dbx Distributor

     

    1996

    40 Kent Road rebuilt to re-house JPS and Jands Electronics

     

    1997 

    Jands opens Melbourne office

    Jands appointed Crown Distributor

     

    2000 

    Jands appointed Stanton Distributor

     

    2001

    JCP re-directs its focus to audio production and sells off lighting assets
    Jands appointed Serapid Distributor

     

    2002 

    Jands appointed BSS Distributor
    Jands Electronics Pty Ltd changes its name to Jands Pty Ltd in line with world market perception

     

    2003 

    Jands Vista T series lighting control console released at Plasa

    Jands appointed Chroma-Q Distributor in association with AC Lighting

     

    2004 

    Jands appointed Lexicon Distributor
    Jands appointed Stage Technologies Distributor

     

    2005 

    Jands Vista S3 Control Surface previewed at Plasa show London

     

    2006 

    Jands appointed ASM Distributor
    Jands appointed Optocore Distributor

     

    2007 

    Jands Vista M1 & S1 Control Surface products released at Plasa

     

    2008  

    Jands appointed Distributor for Cablenet
    Jands appointed Pathway Distributor
    Jands appointed Spotlight Distributor

    Jands Vista I3 Control Console released at ENTECH
